His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a new law establishing the Dubai Longevity Authority (DLA), a regulatory body aimed at positioning the emirate as a global leader in advanced healthcare, wellness, and longevity sciences.

The new authority will oversee the development of sustainable healthcare and wellness sectors in line with internationally recognised regulatory standards, while attracting high-quality investments and fostering innovation in life sciences and biotechnology.

Under the law, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, will serve as President of the authority.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), has been appointed Chairman of the DLA Board of Directors, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The establishment of the authority supports the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, both of which seek to enhance Dubai’s global competitiveness, improve quality of life, and strengthen the emirate’s position in healthy life expectancy indicators.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid highlighted the importance of public health as a cornerstone of national prosperity, noting that Dubai is committed to leading the future of healthcare through innovation, life sciences, and biotechnology.

Commenting on the initiative, Helal Saeed Almarri said the authority reflects Dubai’s forward-looking vision for the healthcare sector. He added that DLA will create a comprehensive regulatory framework covering research and development, clinical trials, and therapeutic services, helping attract investment and strengthen Dubai’s healthcare and industrial capabilities.

The authority is expected to play a key role in accelerating innovation, supporting scientific research, and establishing Dubai as a leading destination for longevity-focused healthcare solutions.
