Stockholm:  A Swedish court delayed its verdict for a 61-year-old man accused of forcing his vulnerable wife into mass prostitution, pushing the highly anticipated ruling to June 16.

The Härnösand district court cited the case's extensive scope and heavy workload as reasons for requiring additional time to finalize the written judgment.

The defendant, who has been in custody since October, faces a potential 10-year prison sentence sought by prosecutors. He is charged with aggravated pimping and eight counts of rape, allegedly committed between August 2022 and October 2025.

Prosecutors state he ruthlessly exploited his wife by placing internet advertisements and organizing paid encounters with approximately 120 identified buyers while she was under the influence of substances and in fear of him.

The defense maintains the husband only provided minor administrative assistance, denying the severe exploitation charges, while the wife seeks $120,000 in damages.
