Qatar urges peaceful resolution to Syrian crisis

Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a phone call with Syria’s Foreign Minister, during which they discussed bilateral relations, developments in Syria, and ongoing regional mediation efforts involving the United States and Iran.

Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi spoke with Asaad Al-Shaibani during the call on Saturday, according to an official statement.

The two ministers reviewed relations between Doha and Damascus, and explored ways to strengthen cooperation across different fields. The discussion also covered the latest political and security developments inside Syria.

Both sides reportedly exchanged views on regional dynamics, paying particular attention to efforts aimed at reducing tensions across the wider Middle East.

During the call, the Qatari minister reaffirmed Doha’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the “aspirations of its people” for stability, development, and prosperity.

He also stressed the importance of continued engagement in diplomatic efforts, urging all parties to respond positively to mediation initiatives currently underway.
