Israel and Lebanon Agree to Ceasefire Amid Wider Regional Tensions

Washington DC: Israel and Lebanon have agreed to implement a ceasefire aimed at ending months of cross-border hostilities, raising hopes for broader efforts to reduce tensions across the Middle East.
The agreement, announced by the United States, requires a complete halt to attacks by Hezbollah and the withdrawal of the group's fighters from southern Lebanon near the Israeli border. Previous ceasefire efforts had failed to stop the fighting.
The development comes as regional tensions remain high amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Earlier, Iran launched attacks that damaged facilities at Kuwait International Airport and injured dozens of people, while U.S. forces carried out military operations near the Strait of Hormuz.
The renewed violence has raised concerns about regional stability and global energy supplies, with oil prices climbing as security risks persist around key shipping routes.
While the ceasefire marks a diplomatic breakthrough between Israel and Lebanon, uncertainty remains as clashes and military activity continue elsewhere in the region.
