Washington DC: US President Donald Trump has confirmed he secretly switched aircraft while departing Turkey due to an Iranian threat on his life, after reports revealed he was smuggled off Air Force One.

He stated ‘They wanted me to go in a different flight... I guess there was a threat out there’.

According to a Washington Post report, Trump boarded Air Force One in Ankara on July 8 before stepping inside an attached catering container.

The vehicle covertly ferried him across the tarmac to a smaller C-32A jet bound for Britain.

Top officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and about a dozen traveling journalists remained on the main presidential plane.

Unaware of Trump's departure, they flew out with window blinds lowered under strict security protocols, acting as unwitting decoys.

The secret operation triggered fierce backlash from traveling reporters who criticized the White House for deception. In response to the revelations, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer demanded that Congress be formally briefed on the Iranian threat and extraordinary extraction measures.

Trump brushed off personal danger, claiming the smaller aircraft he flew on was actually at greater risk. The incident has nonetheless renewed scrutiny over safety protocols and anti-missile defenses on presidential aircraft.
