LEVI:  In an unorthodox effort to combat the summer tourism slump, a prominent Finnish ski resort has resorted to hiding precious metal in the wilderness to attract visitors.

The tourism board of Levi, located above the Arctic Circle, officially announced the ‘Midnight Sun Hunt,’ a summer-long promotional campaign centered around a hidden gold bar valued at €20,000 (approximately $23,300).

While the region draws massive crowds during the winter for skiing and Northern Lights viewing, local businesses face a steep decline in visitors during the warmer months when the area experiences 24 hours of daylight.

To participate in the publicity stunt, travelers must physically register at the Levi Visitor Centre starting June 18 to receive their baseline clue. Additional hints will be rolled out periodically until August 22, systematically narrowing down the gold's location across local landmarks and hiking paths.

Local authorities emphasized that the campaign was designed in strict compliance with conservation rules. Because the delicate Arctic tundra is easily damaged, organizers have explicitly banned digging, stating that the prize is positioned safely without requiring any disruption to the natural terrain.
