Vienna: A 21-year-old Austrian man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for planning a terror attack targeting Taylor Swift’s sold-out ‘Eras Tour’ concerts in Vienna. The defendant, identified under local privacy laws as Beran A., was convicted by a jury following a plot that forced the sudden cancellation of her August 2024 shows.
Despite the severity of the plot, a court-appointed psychiatrist testified that the defendant showed absolutely no signs of mental illness, stating there was "no psychiatric explanation" for his radical actions.
Expressing remorse before the verdict, the 21-year-old was handed a strict prison term alongside an accomplice who received a 12-year sentence.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift later opened up about the traumatic event, admitting it filled her with a ‘new sense of fear’ and a ‘tremendous amount of guilt’ for the displaced fans. However, she praised local investigators, noting she was immensely grateful that they ‘were grieving concerts, not lives.’
