BEIJING: PM Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan played a ‘sincere role’ in mediating between the US and Iran, noting that things are ‘moving in the right direction’ toward a potential peace deal.
Speaking in Beijing, the Prime Minister highlighted Islamabad’s diplomatic bridge-building efforts alongside Army Chief Asim Munir to resolve the ongoing Middle East crisis.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Islamabad's ongoing mediation efforts to secure a negotiated settlement have already shown significant progress. He credited the military leadership for maintaining touch with both sides, stating that ‘lots of ground has already been covered’ in these sensitive talks.
Sharif expressed gratitude for China’s support in promoting regional stability, stressing that the crisis has hit the global community hard. He concluded that peace is essential for the region and that bilateral cooperation remains the key to ending the conflict.
