Detroit:An Air France flight from Paris to Detroit was barred from U.S. airspace and forced to divert to Montreal after a passenger from the Democratic Republic of Congo boarded in error. U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed the rerouting was ordered to enforce strict health and safety protocols.

The diversion was triggered by emergency restrictions implemented by the CDC and the Department of Homeland Security to contain a Central African Ebola outbreak. Under these rules, foreign travelers who visited the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan within 21 days are restricted from U.S. entry, while allowed travelers must route through Washington Dulles for enhanced screening.

Air France confirmed there was no medical emergency on Flight 378. Upon landing in Canada, the passenger was assessed by quarantine officers, found to be asymptomatic, and placed on a return flight to Paris. The remaining passengers then continued to Detroit.
