MOSCOW: Russia and China have made notable progress in negotiations on the proposed Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline, though a final commercial agreement has not yet been reached, according to Kremlin statements reported by Russian state media.

The massive infrastructure project is designed to transport billions of cubic meters of natural gas annually from Russia's Siberian fields directly into the Chinese market.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that high-level discussions between the two nations are progressing, noting that such a complex bilateral undertaking requires careful coordination.

While political willingness remains strong on both sides, resolving specific commercial terms, including pricing mechanisms, volume guarantees, and financing structures, remains the primary obstacle to finalizing the deal.

This strategic energy partnership serves as a vital component of Russia's ongoing economic pivot toward Asian energy markets amid shifting global trade alignments.
