ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates declared that attacks targeting nuclear power facilities represent an absolute "red line" that international community members must never cross.

Speaking before a UN Security Council briefing, Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, issued the warning following deeply alarming drone strikes aimed at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Abushahab strongly condemned the attacks, emphasizing that any threat to nuclear infrastructure poses a catastrophic risk to regional safety and global security. The UAE, which operates the multi-reactor Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in its own region, actively called on all parties to respect existing international laws.

The envoy firmly concluded that political differences must not override the collective obligation to safeguard critical energy infrastructure, demanding absolute compliance with international norms to prevent a devastating, unprecedented radiological disaster.
