UAE intercepts drones

Two drones destroyed, one impacts external power unit
Investigation launched into origin of intrusion
Defence ministry says forces remain on alert

The United Arab Emirates said on Saturday that its air defence systems intercepted three drones that entered the country from the western border area, in an incident that affected infrastructure near a nuclear facility, according to the defence ministry.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE Ministry of Defence said two of the drones were successfully engaged and destroyed, while a third struck an external power generator located outside the internal perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Al Dhafra region.

Authorities did not immediately provide details on potential damage to the facility itself, but confirmed that the impact was limited to an external generator.

The ministry added that investigations were underway to determine the origin of the drones and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further updates would be released once inquiries are complete.

It said the armed forces remain “fully prepared” to deal with any threats, stressing their commitment to confronting attempts to undermine national security and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and infrastructure.

The UAE has previously reported interceptions of aerial threats amid regional tensions, though officials have not linked Saturday’s incident to any specific actor.
