Los Angeles: The search for the next actor to play iconic British spy James Bond has officially begun, with Amazon MGM Studios launching auditions to find the new face of 007 following Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise.

The studio confirmed that casting is underway but said details about potential candidates will remain confidential for now. Acclaimed casting director Nina Gold, known for her work on major productions including Game of Thrones and The Crown, has reportedly been brought in to lead the selection process.

The upcoming Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is writing the screenplay. Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are also attached to the project.

Speculation over Craig’s successor has intensified in recent years, with names such as Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Tom Holland frequently linked to the role. Reports suggest the studio may be looking for a younger actor to lead a new era of the franchise.

The new movie will mark Amazon MGM’s first fully controlled James Bond production after the company secured creative control of the franchise in 2025 following a deal with longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
