Shakira Returns With New FIFA Anthem

Shakira is returning to the FIFA World Cup stage with a brand-new anthem titled Dai Dai ahead of the 2026 tournament, this time collaborating with Nigerian music star Burna Boy.

The upcoming track, set for release on May 14, was teased this week through a video filmed at Maracanã Stadium, one of football’s most iconic venues. The teaser features Shakira performing alongside dancers wearing colours inspired by different national teams, giving fans a first glimpse of the song’s energetic football-inspired atmosphere.

The announcement has generated excitement among football and music fans worldwide, many of whom closely associate Shakira with past FIFA World Cup tournaments. Her 2010 anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) became one of the most recognised football songs globally, while later performances and tracks linked to the 2014 tournament further strengthened her connection to the sport.

Fans online described the new anthem as a nostalgic return, with many calling it a “full-circle moment” more than a decade after the success of Waka Waka.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

The tournament will begin at Azteca Stadium and conclude with the final at MetLife Stadium.

FIFA is also planning its first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show during the World Cup final, with Chris Martin expected to help curate the performance lineup.

With Shakira’s return, Burna Boy’s involvement, and FIFA placing greater focus on music and entertainment, the 2026 World Cup is already shaping up to be one of the tournament’s biggest pop culture spectacles yet.
