U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper visited the guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) while it was operating in regional waters as part of U.S. maritime enforcement operations related to Iran, according to CENTCOM.

During his visit, Cooper met with sailors on board and addressed the crew over the ship’s 1MC public address system, underscoring the importance of their ongoing mission, the statement said.

CENTCOM said the deployment is linked to efforts to enforce maritime restrictions in the region. It added that 49 commercial vessels have been redirected in compliance with the operation, and that U.S. forces remain fully committed to its enforcement.
