Washington DC: Prosecutors have revealed haunting new evidence in the trial of the man accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, including a ‘victory-style’ selfie taken in a hotel room just hours before the planned attack.
The image, shown to the jury, depicts the suspect posing with a high-powered rifle and tactical gear, which the prosecution argues demonstrates clear premeditation and a ‘disturbing sense of pride’ in his actions.
The court was also presented with digital footprints showing the suspect had spent weeks tracking the former president's campaign schedule and scouting the rally site using drone footage.
While the defense argues the suspect was a ‘deeply troubled individual’ with no actual intent to fire, the prosecution maintains that the digital evidence, specifically the self-taken photos proves he was mentally prepared for a lethal encounter.
As the trial enters its second week, these visual records have become the centerpiece of the government's case to prove the suspect's intent to commit a political assassination.
