ABU DHABI: Pakistani missions and consulates in UAE have temporarily suspended passport issuance and renewal services following a major technical failure in the central server system based in Islamabad.
The glitch has reportedly affected the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P), causing a total halt in processing biometric data for overseas Pakistanis.
The disruption comes at a critical time for thousands of citizens who rely on these services for visa renewals and travel. While officials in Islamabad have confirmed that technical teams are working ‘around the clock’ to restore the database, no specific timeline for a resolution has been provided.
Overseas missions have advised applicants to monitor official social media channels for updates and have expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the unforeseen system breakdown.
