Rebel Wilson Denies Bullying Claims in ‘The Deb’ Legal Battle

Sydney: A legal dispute surrounding the film The Deb has intensified, with Rebel Wilson appearing in court to defend herself against defamation claims.
Charlotte MacInnes, the film’s lead actress, is suing Wilson, alleging that her reputation was damaged by claims she had raised concerns about inappropriate behaviour by the film’s producer, Amanda Ghost, and later worked to cover it up. Wilson, however, maintains that MacInnes had personally complained to her about the producer’s conduct.
During court proceedings, Wilson rejected accusations that she bullied MacInnes, Ghost, or the film’s writer, insisting she has long supported women throughout her career. She also denied any involvement in creating online content that targeted Ghost, despite claims linking her to such material through a public relations firm.
The case also examines whether MacInnes did in fact make a complaint to Wilson about the alleged incident, which reportedly took place in 2023. Both sides have presented conflicting accounts, with Wilson standing by her version of events.
The dispute has drawn attention in both Australia and the United States and has overshadowed the release of The Deb, a film centred on teenage life and empowerment. The trial is ongoing.
