Qatar PM Holds High-Level Talks in Washington to Strengthen Strategic and Energy Cooperation

His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, held key meetings in Washington with senior United States officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, to further strengthen bilateral ties.

During the meetings, both sides reviewed the close strategic cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States, exploring avenues to expand collaboration across various sectors. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing defense partnership in light of ongoing regional developments, reflecting the shared commitment to stability and security.

The discussions also addressed key developments in global energy markets. Officials underscored the importance of maintaining the sustainability of energy supplies and ensuring the continued flow of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar to international markets, a critical factor in supporting global energy security.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani highlighted the need to safeguard global energy security while ensuring the freedom of maritime navigation in accordance with international law, especially amid increasing geopolitical challenges.

For his part, the US Vice President praised the strong and enduring strategic partnership between the two nations, commending Qatar’s active role in promoting regional stability and contributing to global energy security.

The high-level engagements reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation and address shared challenges through coordinated efforts.
