Global oil prices moved higher in Asian trading on Thursday after Iran signaled it is not open to direct negotiations with the United States.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said discussions between Tehran and Washington are being conducted indirectly through intermediary countries, stressing that formal negotiations are not underway.
Responding to the remarks, President Donald Trump claimed Iran’s leadership is reluctant to publicly acknowledge ongoing contacts.
Market reaction saw Brent crude rise 1.6% to $103.85, while West Texas Intermediate gained 1.4% to $91.61, reflecting heightened geopolitical uncertainty.
