Italy to Send Air Defense Aid to Gulf Countries, Meloni Says

Italy plans to provide air defense assistance to Gulf countries following recent Iranian air strikes, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Thursday.
Speaking to RTL 102.5 radio, Meloni said Italy intends to send support in the field of defense, particularly air defense systems, similar to measures being considered by the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
She said the move reflects Italy’s support for Gulf partners and its commitment to protecting Italian nationals living in the region.
According to Meloni, tens of thousands of Italians reside across the Gulf, while around 2,000 Italian troops are currently deployed there, making their safety a key priority for the government.
