Abu Dhabi: UAE authorities confirmed that a fire which broke out Tuesday morning at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) was caused by falling debris following the successful interception of a drone by air defence systems.

In a post on X, UAE BARQ stated: “Relevant authorities in the Emirate of #Fujairah responded to a fire that broke out this morning in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (#FOIZ), resulting from falling debris following the successful interception of a drone by air defense systems.”

Officials in Fujairah said emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site, and the blaze was swiftly brought under control. No injuries were reported, and authorities confirmed that normal operations in the area have resumed.

The public has been urged to obtain updates from official state sources and to avoid circulating rumours or unverified information.

The Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, located near the Port of Fujairah, serves as a major oil storage and bunkering hub. It is strategically positioned just outside the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes — allowing Gulf exports to bypass the narrow maritime passage.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions impacting energy infrastructure across the Gulf. Authorities said monitoring and precautionary measures remain in place to ensure safety and operational stability.
