Fashion Icon Valentino Garavani Dies Aged 93

Rome: Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has died at the age of 93. A leading figure in 20th-century fashion, Valentino dressed some of the world’s most famous women, including Elizabeth Taylor, Nancy Reagan, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow. He co-founded the Valentino fashion house in 1960 and was widely regarded as one of the industry’s greats, alongside Giorgio Armani and Karl Lagerfeld.

Born in Lombardy in 1932, Valentino trained in Paris before building a global brand known for luxury and his signature ‘Valentino red.’ He passed away peacefully at his home in Rome, surrounded by family, according to the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation. He will lie in state in Rome on 21-22 January, with his funeral to follow the next day.
