Trump Eyes Abraham Accords Talks with Saudi Crown Prince at White House
US President Donald Trump is preparing to welcome Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the White House on Tuesday, November 18, in what promises to be a landmark visit. The day will feature a full ceremonial welcome in the morning, followed by an exclusive evening dinner attended by top business leaders, lawmakers, and governors.
“We’re more than meeting,” Trump said Friday while heading to Florida for the weekend. “We’re honoring Saudi Arabia, the Crown Prince.”
This marks the Crown Prince’s first return to the White House in over seven years. Trump has cultivated a strong relationship with him and hopes to advance Saudi Arabia’s potential entry into the Abraham Accords — the cornerstone of his Middle East peace initiative aimed at normalizing relations with Israel.
“The Abraham Accords will be a part we’re going to be discussing,” Trump added. “I hope that Saudi Arabia will be going into the Abraham Accords fairly shortly.”
The visit will include a formal military welcome, a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office, and an evening dinner hosted at the White House. First Lady Melania Trump is overseeing the planning, as is customary for high-profile state events. Invitations have already gone out, many personally extended by Trump to key political and corporate figures, sources told CNN.
While Trump has not yet held a state visit in his second term, this official working visit reflects his administration’s focus on strengthening strategic ties. During his first term, Trump occasionally deviated from protocol, skipping a state dinner in his first year and hosting international leaders such as the French president and the Australian prime minister in 2018 and 2019.
A White House spokesperson said, “President Trump looks forward to welcoming Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the White House, where the two leaders will participate in an official working visit,” declining to share further agenda details.
The day after the White House meeting, Saudi Arabia plans to host an investment forum at the Kennedy Center, aiming to connect American and Saudi business leaders.
Trump himself traveled to Saudi Arabia in May for his first state visit of the current term, receiving a lavish reception including a fighter jet escort, golden sword honor guards, and Arabian horses lining his motorcade. Ahead of that visit, Saudi Arabia pledged $600 billion in US investments, with several agreements still awaiting full implementation.
US and Saudi officials are reportedly finalizing major defense and security arrangements ahead of Tuesday’s visit, including plans for substantial purchases of American-made fighter jets and weapons systems.
