Deadly Explosion Hits Police Station in Kashmir
Late Friday night, a powerful explosion ripped through the Nojam Police Station in Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir, leaving at least nine people dead and 32 injured, according to local media reports on Saturday.
Casualties Among Security Personnel
Most of the victims were police officers and forensic team members examining explosives recently seized from Faridabad, Haryana. Authorities said the materials included 350 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, collected during a major security operation just days earlier.
Officials Call It an Accident
Jammu and Kashmir Police Director General Nalin Prabhat described the blast as “an accidental incident” and urged the public to avoid unnecessary speculation. The incident comes days after a deadly car explosion in New Delhi that killed eight people, raising security concerns nationwide.

Following the tragedy, authorities have stepped up security measures in police stations and forensic labs across the region. The blast has left the local community in shock and highlighted the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel.
