Qatar announced on Tuesday that it has received security assurances from the United States, and that Israel has committed not to attack the country again.
Majed al-Ansari, spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, told a press conference that the assurances were delivered during a phone call on Monday between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The security assurances and commitments offered in yesterday’s call were very clear and came under the guarantee of the U.S. president that Qatar will never be attacked,” al-Ansari said.
He added that Qatar was satisfied with the assurances and noted that Israel had also committed not to attack the country again, either directly or indirectly.
