Netanyahu: Israel’s Gains Against Hezbollah Could Pave Way for Peace with Lebanon, Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the ongoing conflict with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has unexpectedly created an opportunity for peace with Lebanon and Syria.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu described Israel’s recent military operations as a turning point. “Our victories in Lebanon against Hezbollah have opened a window for a possibility that was not even imagined before our recent actions — the possibility of peace with our northern neighbours,” he said.

The prime minister also revealed that Israel is engaged in dialogue with Syria, though he cautioned that progress remains limited. “We are conducting talks with the Syrians — there is some progress, but it is still a long way off,” Netanyahu added.

The remarks come as tensions remain high along Israel’s northern border, with ongoing clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
