Saudi Arabia and South Korea Strengthen Cultural Heritage Cooperation

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture and the Korea Heritage Service signed an Executive Program of Cooperation on Thursday at the National Palace Museum in Seoul. The agreement aims to boost collaboration between the two countries in preserving intangible cultural heritage.

The program builds on a 2019 Memorandum of Understanding between Saudi Arabia and South Korea, which set the framework for cultural cooperation. The new agreement focuses on practical steps, including knowledge exchange, training, and safeguarding traditional cultural practices.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Maha Alsenan, Deputy Minister of Research and Cultural Heritage from Saudi Arabia, and Yun Soon Ho, Director General of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Bureau at the Korea Heritage Service.

Under the agreement, both countries will work together on digitizing cultural records, developing digital archiving training programs, and conducting joint research on intangible heritage. The program also includes regular professional workshops, joint conferences, and exchanges for heritage practitioners, with a dedicated working team overseeing its implementation.
