Passenger From Jeddah Caught Smuggling Gold at Delhi Airport

Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport arrested an Indian passenger after foiling a gold smuggling attempt on Monday.

The passenger, who had travelled from Jeddah to New Delhi via Kuwait, was intercepted while crossing the Green Channel at Terminal 3. A search of his person and baggage led to the recovery of two strips of gold paste concealed in his underwear.

Officials extracted a gold bar weighing 716.5 grams from the paste. The seized gold has been valued at INR 6.8 million (around BD 31,000).

Authorities said the gold was confiscated under the Indian Customs Act, 1962, and the passenger was taken into custody. An investigation is underway.
