The world recently said goodbye to Judge Frank Caprio, famously known as the “nicest judge in the world.” He passed away on August 21 at the age of 88 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Judge Caprio, who gained global recognition through his hit courtroom show Caught in Providence, was loved for his compassion, humor, and the way he offered second chances to those who appeared before him.

Thousands of fans around the world expressed their grief and asked to take part in his final farewell. In response, Judge Caprio’s family announced that his funeral service would be livestreamed for everyone who wishes to join.

His son shared on social media: “We’d like to thank you for your tremendous outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time. My dad’s funeral mass will be on Friday, August 29, at the Providence Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul at 10 a.m.”

Locals are also welcome to attend in person. “For those of you in the area, you are welcome to come. We’ve received thousands of requests from people worldwide who would like to pray with us, so we will be live streaming the mass on our social media pages,” he added.

The livestream will be available on the family’s official Facebook and YouTube channels, allowing millions of fans worldwide to say their goodbyes.

Judge Caprio served in the Providence Municipal Court from 1985 until his passing. While he was highly respected in the legal community, it was Caught in Providence—which earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2021—that turned him into a global icon, celebrated for his kindness and humanity in the courtroom.
