The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), in collaboration with the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (AMMA), organized its first development program for coaches and referees in Bahrain, running from August 25 to 27.

The program featured speakers including Wissam Turkmani, Director of Relations and Development at the OCA; Mohammed Qambar, President of the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation; and Galastin Tan, General Manager of the Asian MMA Federation.

A total of 107 participants took part in the program, including 56 coaches and 51 referees, representing 30 National Olympic Committees. The program included both theoretical and practical workshops led by 10 sports experts. Topics covered ranged from registration methods, game rules, training techniques, anti-doping measures, and prevention of match manipulation, among others.

The initiative highlights the OCA’s growing focus on Mixed Martial Arts as the sport prepares for its debut at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
