All Indian airports have been placed on high alert after intelligence agencies warned of possible threats from terrorist groups or “anti-social elements” between September 22 and October 2, 2025.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which oversees airport safety, issued the advisory on August 4. It instructed all airports, airstrips, helipads, flying schools, and aviation training centers to step up security and maintain strict surveillance.

“Recent inputs indicate a potential threat, and additional precautions are needed to prevent any untoward incidents,” the BCAS advisory said.

Security personnel have been ordered to remain on round-the-clock alert, increase patrols around terminals, parking lots, and airport perimeter areas, and coordinate closely with local police. Cityside security around airports will also be strengthened.

Airlines, both domestic and international, have been told to strictly screen all cargo and mail before loading them on aircraft. The same checks will apply to all parcels and shipments at every station across the country.

Authorities stressed that the enhanced measures are precautionary to ensure passenger safety during the alert period.
