Punjab Police have launched an investigation after the body of influencer Kamal Kaur was discovered in a parked car in Bathinda on Wednesday night.
The 30-year-old, based in Ludhiana, was known for her social media presence, particularly on Instagram where she had over 380,000 followers. Authorities were alerted after a foul odour coming from the vehicle, which was parked in a university area, drew attention from locals.
According to initial police statements, the car was registered in Ludhiana. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been used to transport Kaur's body from another location before being abandoned.
"Prima facie, there seems to be something suspicious. An FIR under murder charges is being registered," said Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police Amneet Kondal in a statement to the press.
A forensic team has been called in to assist in determining the cause and timeline of death. As of Thursday morning, no suspects have been publicly identified and the motive remains unknown.
The investigation is ongoing.
