Iraqi Authorities Foil Attempt to Sell Infant in Diyala Province

Iraqi security forces have thwarted a disturbing attempt by a couple in Diyala province to sell their four-month-old baby, according to a statement released by the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel moved swiftly and apprehended the parents as they attempted to carry out the transaction. During interrogation, the couple reportedly confessed to planning the sale of their infant daughter.
The child has since been taken into protective custody, and both parents have been handed over to investigative authorities for legal proceedings. Details regarding the prospective buyer and the reasons behind the attempted sale have not been disclosed by officials.
