The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) celebrated the achievements of its students during the 2025-2026 Spotlight Awards, held on campus in the presence of Dr. Wafa Almansoori, Interim President and Provost of the University, alongside faculty members, administrative staff, students, and representatives of supporting organizations.
The event reflected AUBH’s efforts to showcase outstanding student talent and recognize achievements across academic, research, and innovation-led fields, while also highlighting students’ distinguished participation in local, regional, and international competitions and initiatives, where they represented both the University and the Kingdom of Bahrain with pride. It also reinforced the value of participation as an essential part of the university experience, giving students the opportunity to explore their potential, broaden their perspectives, and gain practical experience that is as meaningful as awards and results. These experiences help build confidence, encourage initiative, and support students’ continued growth inside and beyond the classroom.
The ceremony opened with remarks by Dr. Amal Al Awadhi, Dean of Students at AUBH, who emphasized the importance of celebrating student excellence as an integral part of a holistic university experience. She affirmed that the student achievement extends beyond academic performance to encompass leadership development, effective communication, creative thinking, and meaningful engagement with the wider community.
During the ceremony, AUBH honored a distinguished group of students who achieved strong results in several competitions and events. These included students who won first place in the INJAZ Toastmasters Debate, second place in the MECC AI Hackathon, second place in the ARABCAB Competition, and second place in the CFA Society Bahrain Research Challenge, in addition to students who represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at Web Summit Doha 2025.
The ceremony also highlighted student-led initiatives that reflect the diversity of AUBH students’ talents and interests, including one student’s recent publication of her first novel. This milestone underscored the presence of literary creativity within the student experience and demonstrated how students are able to transform their ideas, passions, and personal interests into meaningful outcomes.
Dr. Amal Al Awadhi, Dean of Students at AUBH, stated: “The Spotlight Awards are a special occasion for AUBH, allowing us to celebrate students who have demonstrated excellence, ambition, and hard work throughout a highly productive academic year. Our students have shown remarkable ability to compete and achieve across a wide range of areas, including research, innovation, debate, and local, regional, and international participation. These accomplishments reflect their promising potential, as well as the supportive environment AUBH provides to encourage initiative and applied learning.”
Dr. Al Awadhi further added: “We are proud of our students and the initiative, discipline, and ambition they have demonstrated throughout the year. The Spotlight Awards are meaningful because they recognize more than final outcomes; they also honor the effort, learning, teamwork, and determination that shape each student’s journey. Whether a student takes part in a competition, leads an initiative, contributes to a project, or joins a student activity, every experience adds value and helps build confidence, maturity, and readiness for future opportunities. We will continue to create a supportive environment that encourages students to take part, explore their potential, and develop the skills they need for their academic and professional paths.”
