Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has strengthened its future fleet with a fresh order for eight additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines. The announcement was made today at the Dubai Airshow 2025, marking another major investment in the airline’s long-haul expansion strategy.
Valued at US$3.4 billion at list prices, the new order brings Emirates’ total A350-900 commitment to 73 aircraft once all deliveries are completed. The airline has already taken delivery of 13 A350s, which entered service last November, introducing passengers to Emirates’ newest inflight products, including its well-received Premium Economy cabin.
The newly added aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2031, further fueling Emirates’ long-term fleet modernization roadmap.
Leadership Praises Growing Fleet and Global Impact
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, highlighted the strategic significance of the deal.
“The A350’s entry into service has provided us with valuable additional capacity and allowed more customers to enjoy our latest onboard experiences,” he said. “With this top-up order—and alongside our expanded Boeing 777-9 order earlier this week—Emirates now has 375 next-generation wide-body aircraft on its orderbook. This represents a massive investment in the future of flying, customer experience, and global aviation.”
Airbus also welcomed the renewed partnership
“We are pleased to see Emirates strengthening its commitment to the A350, which continues to redefine long-haul travel,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP of Commercial Aircraft Sales. “We look forward to supporting Emirates as it scales up with one of the most modern and efficient widebody aircraft in the world.”
Rolls-Royce echoed similar optimism
“The Trent XWB-84 has been the industry benchmark for a decade, delivering exceptional fuel efficiency and durability,” said Omar Ali Adib, Senior Vice President for the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. “We’re proud of our continued partnership with Emirates and their confidence in our engines.”
A Boost for Global Manufacturing
Emirates’ growing A350 orderbook continues to support tens of thousands of high-skilled jobs across Europe, spanning supply chains in France, Germany, the UK, Spain, and numerous partner nations—highlighting the airline’s impact not only in the skies but across global industries.
