UK Companies’ Membership at Abu Dhabi Chamber Jumps 47% in a Year

Abu Dhabi strengthens its role as a global hub for business and investment as more British firms expand in the emirate.

The number of United Kingdom companies registered with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry surged by 47% year-on-year by the end of 2024, reflecting growing international confidence in Abu Dhabi as a leading destination for business expansion and investment.

British firms are increasingly establishing a strong presence in key sectors such as finance, energy, tourism, ICT, manufacturing, hospitality, and healthcare, further cementing economic ties between the two countries. At the same time, Emirati investments in the United Kingdom continue to grow, particularly in priority industries that support both nations’ long-term economic diversification goals.

Negotiations between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United Kingdom toward a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) are also advancing, which is expected to unlock new opportunities for trade and bilateral partnerships once finalized.

According to data from the International Trade Centre, there is substantial potential for Emirati exports to the UK, particularly in precious metals, plastics, cosmetics, metals, and food products such as dates and halal foods. These sectors align with the Abu Dhabi Chamber’s Roadmap 2025–2028, which aims to strengthen economic diversification and elevate the global competitiveness of the emirate’s private sector.

H.E. Shamis Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, emphasized the chamber’s commitment to deepening collaboration with UK businesses.

“The Abu Dhabi Chamber is dedicated to strengthening engagement with the UK business community. We continue to build platforms for dialogue and provide tailored support to British companies seeking to invest and grow in the emirate,” he said.

He added:

“Our strong trade ties are built on trust and a shared vision for sustainable growth. Today, Abu Dhabi stands as a bridge between East and West — a global gateway for companies looking to expand their reach and seize new opportunities.”

The continued momentum highlights Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a dynamic global business hub, attracting world-class enterprises and fostering long-term economic partnerships.
