Apple Releases iOS 18.4 Beta for Developers, Introducing New AI Features and Enhancements

Apple has resumed its beta rollout with the launch of iOS 18.4 for registered developers, following a brief pause after the public release of iOS 18.3. The latest beta is expected to introduce expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities, a new food feature in Apple News, and several other updates aimed at enhancing user experience.

Apple Intelligence Expands, But Not for All

Apple Intelligence, the company’s proprietary AI-powered feature set, will continue its expansion in iOS 18.4. However, access remains limited to users with an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or the upcoming iPhone 16 series, including the newly announced iPhone 16E, which is set to launch next week.

Users with compatible devices will be able to leverage Apple Intelligence to generate original emoji, proofread emails, summarize web articles in Safari, prioritize notifications, analyze audio transcripts, and minimize interruptions. Additionally, Siri will receive a major upgrade with enhanced AI capabilities, including deeper integration with ChatGPT to improve responsiveness and assistance.

Major Features of iOS 18

Beyond Apple Intelligence, iOS 18 introduces a range of new features, including:

A redesigned home screen with improved customization options.

A revamped Control Center with greater flexibility.

Enhanced privacy features such as locked and hidden apps.

Scheduled text messaging functionality.

A dedicated password manager app.

Text messaging via satellite for emergencies.

A significantly redesigned Photos app with new organizational tools.

Apple’s Developer Program: Free and Paid Tiers

Apple's Developer Program, which previously required a $100 annual fee for access to beta versions, now includes a free tier. This allows users with an Apple ID to download developer betas at no cost, a change introduced last year alongside iOS 17.

As Apple continues refining iOS 18, developers and beta testers can expect additional enhancements leading up to the official release. The iOS 18.4 beta is now available for download through the Apple Developer Program.
