Bruno Mars has made a historic move on the Hot 100, surpassing a milestone previously held by Michael Jackson. Mars, with his hit “Die with a Smile” alongside Lady Gaga, now holds a record of 38 weeks at No. 1, breaking his tie with the King of Pop, who had 37 weeks at the top during his lifetime.

This achievement adds to the list of accolades for Mars, who has been a dominant force in the music industry for years. His latest hit, “Fat Juicy Wet” with Sexxy Redd, is expected to make a strong debut on the charts soon, although its mature themes might place it just below the top 10.

Last week, as “Die with a Smile” earned its third turn at the No. 1 spot, Mars tied Jackson’s record, and now, with his continued success, he’s poised to hold the top spot for the foreseeable future. Jackson, who passed away over a decade ago, has not seen a posthumous No. 1 hit since his passing.

While Mars continues his reign at No. 1, he still has a way to go to catch up to Beyoncé, who has 46 weeks at No. 1. The all-time leader, Mariah Carey, remains far ahead with 97 weeks at the top, largely due to the annual chart resurgence of her iconic hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Mars is not just celebrating his victory over Jackson but may continue to add to his legacy with other hits like “Apt.” This collaboration with Rosé of Blackpink has climbed to No. 3, and it’s well-positioned to continue rising in the coming weeks. If it reaches No. 1, it will mark his tenth chart-topping hit, solidifying his place in music history.
