Bahrain’s Tourism Sector Poised for Expansion

Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, chaired the Board of Directors meeting of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), attended by CEO Sarah Ahmed Buhejji and members of the executive management.
During the meeting, the board reviewed the key achievements of the authority in 2024, along with the work plans and priorities for the current year. These discussions align with the Tourism Strategy 2022-2026, which aims to enhance the contribution of the tourism sector to Bahrain’s GDP.
The meeting also covered the latest updates on licensing and business development, tourism performance indicators, major tourism projects, and the economic outcomes of Bahrain’s 2024 festive season. Additionally, discussions included developments regarding the organization of weddings for 2024-2025.
In this context, Minister Al Sairafi emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen coordination and collaboration with both public and private sector partners. She highlighted the positive tourism indicators recorded during Bahrain’s festive season, underscoring their role in achieving the objectives of the national tourism strategy.
The minister further noted that Bahrain places increasing importance on the tourism sector as a key priority, necessitating the introduction of innovative initiatives and the implementation of projects that enhance the kingdom’s cultural and historical appeal. She praised Bahrain’s advanced tourism infrastructure, which solidifies its position on the regional and international tourism map.
Her Excellency reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to diversifying its tourism offerings, attracting visitors from key target markets, and building on the successes achieved in the sector over recent years.
