Isle Of Jura wins HH Shaikh Nasser Cup

The final and most valuable race of the day yesterday at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) was the His Highness Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, sponsored by Bapco Energies, and it saw yet another impressive performance from Isle Of Jura, the season’s most improved performer.

Coasting home by four lengths under a confident ride from Callum Shepherd, Isle Of Jura, in the colours of Victorious Racing, took the race named in honour of its owner, His Majesty the King’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

It was a third win this season for the George Scott-trained four-year-old, building on his success in taking the Crown Prince’s Cup last time out. His next stop will be the HM the King’s Cup on March 8. Speaking after the race, winning Shepherd said : “That was a flawless performance. Roll on the King ’s Cup!”

In other races yesterday, Pure Dreamer won the HH Shaikha Seema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Adiyat Racing, AM Smith and Harry Davies; Mudallal won the HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Mohamediya Racing, Fawzi Nass and Neil Callan; Kiwano lifted the HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Mr John Storey, George Baker and Callum Shepherd; Tayar won the HH Shaikh Khaled bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajeed and Hussain Asghar; and Kuheilat Al Adiyat 1782 won the HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup for Victorious and Yousif Taher, while ridden by Lee Newman.
