Bahrain’s 2023 event praised as ‘top-five tournament in the world’

The Bahrain Ministry of Interior Tennis Challenger in 2023 was regarded as one of the top five tournaments in the world, according to a top Bahraini official.

Bahrain Tennis Federation officiating head Ahmed Al Hawaj revealed that members of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) had high praise of the Kingdom’s organisation of last year’s event, and said that it was one of the top five competitions on the 2023 ATP Challenger Tour.

Al Hawaj thanked Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for his great interest and guidance in putting together such a globally renowned tournament, which is in its third edition.

He added that referees in Bahrain are constantly improving, and the organisation gets better every tournament. He noted that the ATP members’ positive feedback of Bahrain’s event reflects the significant development in hosting the championship and providing a wonderful experience for players and fans.

Tunisian player Aziz Dougaz expressed his delight in participating in the competition, which he considers a pride for Arabs. “The organisation of this tournament is very wonderful, and thanks go out to those in charge of this tournament,” he said.
