Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) is set to host one of the biggest race meetings of the season tomorrow, with three cups dedicated to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Two of the HRH the Crown Prince’s Cups offer a staggering BD15,000 in prize money, including the feature event of the day in the seventh and final race.

The 10-furlong race for imported horses will have 12 competitors in all, six of them being rated over 100.

The stellar field will be headlined by last year’s Bahrain International Trophy winner Simsir, competing for owners Victorious and trainer Fawzi Nass, with Adrie De Vries in the saddle.

Also in the fray are Rayounpour for Al Adiyat Racing and Alan Smith, to be ridden by renowned champion jockey Frankie Dettori; and New Show, competing for Victorious, Hesham Al Haddad and David Egan.

All three horses have been tipped with a chance to win. The others in the field are Royal Ascot winner Across the Stars, Cartago, Desert Lion, Macaque, Medal Winner, Glen Force, Jellystone, Litigator and Gold Wand.

Meanwhile, in the sixth race of the day, also over 10 furlongs, five locally bred horses are to compete for HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup.

They include pre-race favourites Al Tariq for KHK Racing, Hesham Al Haddad and Adrie De Vries; Sabreena for Victorious, Fawzi Nass and Hussain Makki; and Daleel for HH Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, James Naylor and Abdulla Faisal.

The line-up is completed by Dance Monkey and Ramani.

The other HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup will be up for the taking in the first race of the meeting, to be held over seven furlongs with a BD5,000 prize.

Seven horses are on the entry list, four owned by Victorious and trained by Yousif Taher and the three others owned by Al Wasmiya and trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti.

Elsewhere on the day, four other trophies are to be won. In race five, 12 horses are to battle for the right to clinch the Stewards Cup and the BD5,000 total prize; five horses led by Paco Man, Alejandro and Living Art will feature in race four for the Bahrain Derby Cup and a BD5,000 prize; Waseela, Campolina and Aelfies Girl will go against one another for the Bahrain Oaks (sponsored by Al Muzdaher Stud) Cup and a BD3,800 prize in race three; and an eight-horse field will vie for the High Committee Cup and the BD5,000 prize in the day’s second race.
