Addabbo Leads Egypt Golf Series New Giza Going into Final Round
Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo moved into the lead at the Egypt Golf Series New Giza after shooting a six-under-par 66 in the second round at New Giza Golf Club.
The 27-year-old now leads the tournament by one shot at ten under par overall. He started strongly on the back nine, making four birdies in a row from the 12th hole and adding another birdie at the 17th to reach the turn in 31. Despite tougher, windy conditions later in the round, Addabbo held his score to stay on top of the leaderboard.
Addabbo said he is enjoying his golf more in recent months and is focusing on playing freely rather than forcing results. He is now aiming for his second professional title, following his first win in November last year.
Slovenia’s Zan Luka Stirn and Malaysia’s Galven Kendall Green are tied for second place at nine under par. Stirn followed his opening 64 with a 71, while Green added a 69 after his first-round 66.
Ireland’s Alex Maguire recorded one of the best rounds of the day with a 66, moving into a tie for fourth place at eight under par along with Italy’s Aron Zemmer and England’s Charlie Crockett.
Wales’ Owen Edwards is seventh at seven under, while Spain’s Haiko Dana and England’s Curtis Knipes share eighth place at six under.
Egyptian amateur Issa Abou El Ela is the leading home player. He is tied for 23rd place at one under par after rounds of 71 and 72.
The Egypt Golf Series New Giza is the first of four MENA Golf Tour events being held in Egypt, with a total prize fund of USD 400,000 and Official World Golf Ranking points on offer.
