Bahrain’s men’s futsal team return to action today as they face Brunei Darussalam in their final AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 qualifier in Bangkok. The nationals, coached by Brazilian Rafael Fogageiro, have already been eliminated from contention after backto-back defeats, but will be eager to restore pride in their last Group B fixture.
Tough lessons learned
The Bahrainis fell 0-2 to South Korea in their opener before a 0-4 loss to hosts Thailand on Monday. Despite spirited moments – including early chances for Mohammed Abdulla Ali and Salman Al Mulla – defensive lapses proved costly against the Thais, who punished errors to race away with the win. Bahrain’s defeat confirmed that qualification hopes were over, with only group winners and topranked runners-up progressing to next year’s tournament in Jakarta.
Brunei also winless
Today’s opponents Brunei are also without a point, having lost 0-3 to South Korea in their last outing. Like Bahrain, they head into this encounter seeking a positive finish to an otherwise difficult campaign. Both sides know this is their only chance to leave Bangkok with something to show.
