A Masterclass in Kuala Lumpur
Bahrain turned on the style to clinch an eight-wicket victory against Hong Kong in the Malaysia T20I Tri-Series 2025, wrapping things up yesterday at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. The match kicked off at 06:00 local time on Tuesday, 11 March, and what followed was a display of sheer dominance as Bahrain chased down Hong Kong’s 118, reaching 121 for 2 in just 14.2 overs.
It’s back-to-back wins for Bahrain after their stunning start on Monday vs Malaysia. Asif Ali was also explosive there with his half-century (54) helping Bahrain to win by six wickets in what was the series opener. Next, Bahrain will face Malaysia again tomorrow and then Hong Kong on the 14th, with all matches being played at Bayuemas Oval. They’re looking every bit the team to beat in this three-team showdown.
Asif Ali Steals the Show
Step forward Asif Ali, the man of the moment, who walked away with Player of the Match honours after a dazzling 76 off 48 balls that sealed the deal for Bahrain. Paired with Fiaz Ahmed’s unbeaten 37, it was a chase that never looked in doubt. But Ali’s impact didn’t stop there—his two wickets for just one run earlier in the day set the tone, backed up by Rizwan Butt’s fine 3 for 29, which kept Hong Kong to a shaky 118 for 8. Zeeshan Ali’s battling 50 gave Hong Kong something to cling to, but it wasn’t enough to stem the Bahrain tide.
