International Cyclists Shine at the 5th Abdul Hakeem Al Shammary Group Cycling Race in Bahrain

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Abdul Hakeem Al Shammary Group Cycling Championship was held today, Saturday, for the fifth consecutive edition, with the support of the Bahrain Cycling association, at the Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Track in Zallaq.
The race was attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, in the presence of His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Cycling association, Mr. Abdul Hakeem Al Shammary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abdul Hakeem Al Shammary Holding Group, and several dignitaries and invitees.
The race started in Zallaq area, specifically from Jumeirah Hotel, a distance of 60 km for professionals, amateurs and people of determination from various regions of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and several teams and individuals from the GCC countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, The United Arab Emirates and Qatar, where this version of the race witnessed a strong turnout in participation and registration.
The race included several events accompanying the championship and competitions between different age groups for both genders, in addition to the participation of the Ministry of Interior's musical band and food trucks from various companies.
His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar crowned the winners of the first places in the participating categories, where the Iranian Amir Hussein Fahim won first place in the open general race, and the Emirati Ibrahim Al Suwaidi won second place, while his compatriot Nasser Al Omairi came in third place, and at the level of the Bahraini amateur race, the cyclist Mohammed Al Ghais won first place, followed by Mohammed Ali in second place and Hassan Thamer in third place.
In the women's race, cyclist Elsa Garcia won first place, Mishaal Al-Hazmi came in second, while Erika Martinez came in third, while Qatari Younis Rami won the junior race, while Saudis Hassan Al-Dubaisi and Ahmed Mustafa won second and third places respectively, in addition to the participation of future cyclists of both genders.
At the end of the ceremony, souvenirs were presented to the sponsors and participants in the race.
