Bapco Energies highlights 25 years of women’s empowerment in Bahrain
Bapco Energies Chief Executive Officer Mark Thomas congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Women, on the 25th anniversary of the Supreme Council for Women and Bahrain Women’s Day 2026, held under the theme “25 Years at the Heart of the Reform Project.”
Thomas said the silver jubilee of the Supreme Council for Women is an important national occasion to reflect on the achievements that have strengthened the role of Bahraini women as key partners in the Kingdom’s comprehensive development.
He said these achievements were made possible by Bahrain’s leadership vision and continued support for women as part of the Kingdom’s reform project.
“The Supreme Council for Women has, over 25 years, established a distinctive Bahraini model for women’s empowerment based on equal opportunities and integrating women’s needs into national development,” Thomas said.
He noted that this approach has strengthened women’s participation across economic, social and development sectors, including their growing contribution to leadership and decision-making, particularly in the energy sector.
Thomas said Bapco Energies’ commitment to supporting Bahraini women has been reflected in continuous programmes focused on empowerment, professional development and capacity building, supporting their progression into leadership and decision-making roles.
“We are proud of the valuable contributions made by Bahraini women across Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries,” he said, adding that they have demonstrated their capabilities in leading strategic initiatives and contributing to transformation and development across the energy sector.
He also highlighted the group’s efforts to provide a supportive working environment offering Bahraini women equal and diverse opportunities for professional growth and leadership.
Thomas said the achievements made by Bahraini women over the past decades should serve as a motivation to build on these gains and invest further in national talent.
Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries continue to implement initiatives and policies supporting equal opportunities and women’s empowerment. Bahraini women currently account for more than 36% of the group’s total workforce and nearly 29% of leadership positions, reflecting its focus on strengthening the role of Bahraini female professionals across its operations and the energy sector.
