Bapco Energies, the integrated group leading the energy transition in the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated in the National Tree Week initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and supporting the Kingdom’s afforestation goals.

Bapco Energies’ Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mark Thomas affirmed that under the comprehensive development led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to prioritize enhancing quality of life through national plans that strengthen environmental sustainability, promote environmental awareness, and preserve natural resources.

Mr. Thomas high lighted Bapco Energies’ ongoing efforts to plant thousands of native trees around its facilities, using innovative irrigation technologies to enhance air quality, reduce heat, and protect biodiversity. He reiterated the Group’s support for Bahrain’s National Afforestation Plan, which targets the planting of 3.6 million trees by 2035, in line with the Kingdom’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. Additionally, as part of its commitment to sustainability, Bapco Energies continues its support for the Green Ticket Initiative in partnership with Bahrain International Circuit. Now in its fourth year, the initiative helps fund mangrove planting across Bahrain, with this year’s contribution—equivalent to 5,000 trees—advancing national targets to quadruple mangrove coverage by 2035.

In collaboration with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries organized activities across the Kingdom. Mrs. Basema Al Mahroos, CEO of Bapco Tazweed, participated in the launch of the fifth phase of the “Forever Green” initiative in the Southern Governorate, alongside H.E. Ms. Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, and H.E. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD.

Al Mahroos praised the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, noting that her commitment to sustainability continues to inspire national awareness and action.

Bapco Energies will conclude its National Tree Week activities with a tree-planting event in Sakhir, near the Bapco Gas headquarters, covering more than 1,000 square meters with the participation of employee volunteers.
