Etihad Airways has officially received its first Airbus A321LR aircraft, signaling a bold new chapter in its plans to enhance passenger comfort and expand its premium service offerings. The aircraft, delivered in Hamburg and leased from AerCap, is the first of 20 new A321LRs set to join the airline’s growing fleet.
The A321LR (Long Range) is designed for short- and medium-haul journeys but brings a widebody experience to a single-aisle aircraft — something rarely seen in regional aviation. Etihad has gone the extra mile by introducing both First and Business Class cabins on this aircraft, a first in the region for this model.
Inside, the A321LR features the state-of-the-art “Airspace” cabin, with two private First Class suites that include lie-flat beds and ultra-clear 4K screens. The Business Class section offers 14 fully-flat seats with direct aisle access, while Economy Class has 144 seats, all designed with comfort, space, and a more relaxed journey in mind.
Passengers can also enjoy new-generation amenities such as mood-adaptive LED lighting, wireless charging, high-speed connectivity, and the latest in-flight entertainment. Larger overhead bins – 60% roomier than standard – make boarding and storing luggage easier for both travelers and crew.
Powered by CFM engines and advanced aerodynamics, the A321LR can fly up to 4,000 nautical miles (over 6,300 km), making it ideal for premium routes across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Its fuel-efficient design cuts CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption by at least 20% compared to older models. The aircraft is also equipped to run on up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), in line with Airbus’ goal to support 100% SAF flights by 2030.
This delivery comes at a time when Etihad is focused on improving operational efficiency and sustainability, while still delivering the signature luxury experience it’s known for.
By the end of June 2025, Airbus had recorded over 11,000 orders for aircraft in the A320neo Family from 145 customers worldwide — a testament to the growing demand for cleaner, more capable, and passenger-friendly aircraft.
